Healthy Weight Resources

Introduction

Being a healthy weight can reduce our risk of common and dangerous health conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, mobility problems and poor sleep. A higher proportion of adults with learning disabilities are obese than the general population. Some of this can be due to particular conditions such as Prada Willi Syndrome or types of medication, for others it can be due to the environment we live in and the resources we have. No matter the underlying cause it is still important for everyone to be able to sustain a healthier weight.

These resources have been developed to equip anyone supporting adults with learning disabilities with tools to guide adults with learning disabilities to have a better understanding of healthy eating and to make healthier choices and changes in their diets.
